That's right folks, one of the creator's of DnD has passed on to the great beyond. Too bad there wasn't a cleric on hand with a cure disease or ressurection spell. But in all seriousness...
I read a few of the articles about him today and found he had been going through some health issues. However despite having issues he had been running games as recently as January of this year.
Let's face it folks without Gary Gygax we wouldn't have half the popular game we have today. Despite it's often derogatory connotations, D&D is a pop culture icon. His legacy will endure for years to come. I only hope that GenCon this year will do some kind of tribute to him.
A number of us here at Dorkgasm have played RPGs (DUH!!!) and thank Gary for putting the first book into print. Dorks everywhere have been and will continue to be inspired by his example. Thank you Gary.
I'll be sure to raise a pint to you this week. Cheers.

So here's the plan.
If his funeral is near here (born and died in Lake Geneva) I'm gonna try to go to it and see about getting my d20 into the casket. Talk about fucking epic. Also someone needs to que up the futurama episode with him in it.
Dude. Seriously.
You're actually going to a funeral service, for somebody you don't actually know, and while surrounded by his actual family, friends, & colleagues, and drop some little trinket into the man's casket?
Why?
Is that supposed to be cool? Because it's not.
