In the Name of the King

Well hot damn! I like the use of talent, and the cinematography looks stunning... Wait, did I just say that about a Uwe Boll film? Huh... Still not used to that!

Comments

Telling you...

I watched this loud and on the big screen three times while I was at ICFLM, and it got better every time. This one is going to be really hot.

Are you two fricking kidding

Are you two fricking kidding me? I saw this trailer ages ago and thought it looked like trash. Maybe marginally better than his last video game attempts (this is based on Dungeon Siege for the PC) but still trash.

You know that whole saying about polishing a turd? Yah, that applies here.

Bite me, yo!

It was awesome. You should have seen it, all big screen and glorious... Oh wait.... You could have, but...

Oh, well. No hard feelings.

Real actors aren't going to

Real actors aren't going to save this movie. Besides, Jason Statham is the only one with a real career left. Even Ray Liotta has more or less moved on.

Sure...

Yeah, I know what you mean. I mean, Kristana Loken doesn't have anything to do now, right? Oh, wait. There was that whole Painkiller Jane thing, though... Oh, and John Rhys-Davies doesn't have a career left after that whole absurd LOTR misfire. I mean, I see what you're saying. No one has a career anymore. Got it.

Pff...

This movie looked like shit when I saw the trailer (what seems like) 10 years ago, and it still does. Thanks Uwe Boll, for continuing to make movies that make guys like Paul W. Anderson and Michael Bay look like John Ford. I'd feel sorry for everyone involved in this film, if the precedence of suckage hadn't been set so many times before by this hack. They should have known better.

And hasn't this been sitting on a shelf for the last couple years? Like the studio is too embarrassed to even release it? I mean still, it does look better than that Seed movie he just finished. And I'm pretty sure that's getting a wide release. It boggles the mind. Nice guy though, eh?

Egads!

Yes, the movie has been in the final stages for some time now, but they had to redo a lot of the digital effects due to lackluster performance by some of the effects houses that worked on it. If I remember correctly, Dr. Boll said that they went through something like thirty different houses and had to try to get all the effects to match up, quality-wise. Surely this must be the work of a madman, eh? Perhaps though, it could be that he wanted the quality to remain consistent throughout to silence everyone who would find fault and mindlessly bash him.

Unfortunately, Uwe Boll bashing has become somewhat en vogue as of late. He's done some shit pictures, but who hasn't? Look at everything post-Contact by Robert Zemekis, or the entire prequel Saga from George Lucas. Each and every Hollywood director has done something or things that they're not too proud of. Dr. Boll does not particularily like House Of The Dead or Alone In The Dark because he didn't write them. They did not have the level of storytelling he would have put into them. However, he does defend them, because he tried to do some things that didn't work out. These were his EARLY FILMS! He tried to do House Of The Dead as homage to pop culture. He tried to make Alone In The Dark an entertaning splatter film. It was never meant to be a serious horror movie, and this is the root of the problem. Too many horror snobs are trying to read too much into the fluff pieces. Do yourself a favor and watch Seed when it comes out. I will have my review for that done later this weekend. This is Uwe Boll in serious horror mode. This is disturbing to the core. People walked out bue to the intensity of some parts. Among the people who stayed, almost all walked away from it very unsettled. This is the Uwe Boll we should be judging. The man who has an intense dedication to his craft and is willing to make some uncomfortable choices with what he shows on screen, be it in Seed or Postal.

So there.

Another note!

This is not the trailer I saw at ICFLM. The one I saw is light years better. I understand why some of you might think the movie sucks with this trailer, but trust me. The new trailer is much better.

Seriously y'all

I'm no boll fanboy, (as far as I know Ken's the only one in existence) But the trailer we saw looked good. I think its just going to take a while before people get rid of their aversion to Dr. Bolls work.

Hey, now...

I'm no fanboy, but he has gotten better. I'm not saying House Of The Dead was any good whatsoever. It really wasn't. When you hear what he was trying to do with a shitty script, you might have to respect him a little bit more. That's all I'm saying. Seriously. Plus, he's a good guy on top of it all. And none of you heard the conviction I heard when we were talking about the smaller projects he brought up to me in the earlier interview. These smaller movies look to be god-awesome.

For the record

This is the trailer Dr. Boll has up on his official Youtube page... Just an FYI...

First Dungeon Siege Review!

I found this on AICN, and I have to say, I'm much more interested in seeing this train wreck now than I was after seeing the trailer. Could it be the worst movie ever? Well, as long as Uwe Boll keeps making movies his biggest competition will always be himself (I doubt he'll ever top Bloodrayne), so I guess we'll just have to wait and see. But for now, here's an amusing review:

Fuckin' BOO!

It sounds like this guy made up his mind before seeing it. Maybe if people just gave him a chance, they'd like his movies. I did. Postal and Seed are awesome for diverse reasons. No one gives the poor man a chance...
