October 26, 2007 (Racine, WI) – Dorkgasm, LLC, owners of Dorkgasm.com launch comprehensive event coverage at the It Came from Lake Michigan Film Festival today. The news, reviews and interviews website will join other genre press at the event, but will cover this year’s festival from an experience-based perspective.
Dorkgasm.com launched earlier this year and boasts a journalistic strategy unique to genre publications. Lauding the late Hunter S. Thompson, the website denies the concept of unbiased reporting in favor of so-called Gonzo Journalism. Their belief is that a journalist must be part of the story in order for the story to hold any weight. Espousing “Dork Culture”, Dorkgasm.com has published numerous reviews and interviews from an “every-man’s nerd” perspective. Today they launch their first coverage of an event, with plans to cover Horror Fest in November, Gen Con Indy next August, and other various gatherings of the sort along the way.
Racine, Wisconsin resident Wayne Clingman founded the It Came from Lake Michigan Film Festival last year. This year’s guests include Milwaukee filmmaker Mark Borchardt (American Movie, Coven), Troma Films President Lloyd Kauffman (The Toxic Avenger, Cannibal the Musical), and international director Dr. Uwe Boll (House of the Dead, Bloodrayne). Dr. Boll will be debuting two films at this year’s festival. Postal, his first American comedy, lampoons political figures, while Seed is firmly rooted in the horror genre. Both films are based on video games, a medium Dr. Boll equivocates to “best selling books of the younger generation”.
