I'm Calling It Now

The iPhone will be result in an almost total destruction of Apple's core business (consumer, hand-held electronics) due to a combination of Apple's draconian demands that all interface with their products be proprietary and (more importantly) the decision to use a non-patented interface on the iPhone/new iPods.

Microsoft's Zune will defeat the iPod circa 2012.

Write that down.

But Vista...

After a week of dealing with the nightmare that is Windows Vista, I think that the universe will balance itself out after your prediction comes to pass by making Mac OS X3 the primary operating system consumers turn to. With the advent of Apple using Intel processors, compatibility issues have been minimized on the Mac (I even use a 2 button mouse on mine), and Vista makes me want to find a Texas clock tower...

XP

Vista was a significant mistep, I'll grant you that. But it will be corrected. I know it seems like forever ago but EVERYONE said EXACTLY the same thing about XP when it came out and now most people really like it or at least completely tolerate it. Add to that the fact that vista will be the ONLY way to play advanced games in the future FOREVER and I don't see Microsoft going anywhere on the operating system front. People will switch wholesale to Linux before Mac's conquer the bulk of the market... which is, obviously, the business market.

Macs can't compete there.

Well, not yet.
